Cans/Bottle Collections
for Religious Ed. Program

Worthy Brother Knights council 6064

I bring you news about the cans and bottles that are collected on a regular
basis by members of this council.  This information is brought to you on
behalf of the regular members that have been doing this and wish to invite
you to join us if you desire.  Monies which we collect for the cans and
bottles are donated to the Religious Education program at Saint Mary's.

Greetings from Arthur Paquette, Bruce Miller, Bob Gorton, Bob Goodwin, Tom
Tschalski, Paul Mc Donough, Frank Riccio, Ray Mc Manus and Bob Apprich.

We generally assemble in the lower Church around 9:30 on a given Wednesday
to go through the cans and bottles that have been left at the Church and
stored in the doorway near the outside entrance near the driveway.  The
donated items are left in plastic bags and we take them out of the bags and
sort them according to whether they are cans or bottles; eliminating those
that do not have a deposit paid.  The plastic bottles are counted in a bag
with a total of 50 plastic bottles per bag.  The cans are collected into a
bag that is see-through and it is filled all the way to the lines that are
imprinted.  The bags are sealed and assembled for moving to the back of a
pickup truck.

Also separated are the glass beer and soda bottles.  Generally we attempt to
get all of these bottles together in boxes and return them to the store for
quick redemption.

The state redemption centers are located in Amesbury and Beverly; the one
local will only give us 3 cents per can, while the Beverly center is further
it is the center that will reimburse at the full rate.

We desire that you know of this information and suggest if you have any
interest or find that you have the time some morning when we are doing this,
please feel invited to join us.

Vivat Jesus!
Fraternally,
Brother Ray - - Ray McManus
